Jason McGee, Student Ministries Pastor
Worship Style - Contemporary
We were invited to attend this church service by a friend of our daughter, Melissa. The four of us attended the 10AM service at the Worcester Campus. (Liberty Churches also has a Shrewsbury Campus.) This is a relatively new church, formally called Mt. Zion Church. Also, the outside indicates it was called Union Church built in the 1800's. It is a magnificent old church structure with beautiful stained glass windows. As we entered, there was a pre-service prayer time in progress, and all were asked to refrain from conversation in the sanctuary. However, there was an abundance of hugging going on.
The large worship team began by leading us in high energy music worship. Pastor McGee then asked us to consider, what is the focal point of our lives? What are people drawn to when they see you? What kingdom and whose kingdom do they see? The answer should be Jesus. He then lead us through a discussion on King Solomon and all his "wealth" and what he discovered once he owned it "ALL". He discovered that "all is vanity and grasping for the wind". Ecclesiastes1:12-14. At the end, Solomon concludes, "Fear God and keep His commandment, For this is man's all." As Jesus tells us in Matthew 16:26, "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" Additional scriptures to ponder, John 15:4 and 1 John 2:15.
There were approximately 450 people in attendance. We felt the powerful presence of Jesus as many openly participated, affirmed, danced and wept during the service.
