David Payne - Lead Pastor
Worship Style - Contemporary
We were thrilled to arrive at this service and pull into the parking lot right next to someone Denise had tutored more than 25 years ago. God is so much fun!! We had been told about this church by his mother, but were unaware that he was attending this church.
The welcoming at this church was significant. Doors were held open, many people approached us and lots of direction was given. We certainly felt welcomed!
We had the honor of witnessing several adult baptisms and hear the testimonies of each one. What a treat!! It is so amazing to hear new stories of what Jesus is doing in people's lives.
Pastor Payne was completing a series entitled, "Pictures of You - Lion, Lamb, Cornerstone & Vine." This morning's message was Branching Out. This message was based on John 15:1-7, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. Every branch in me not bearing fruit, He doth take away, and every one bearing fruit, He doth cleanses by pruning it, that it may bear more fruit;..." Pastor Payne began with this "Big Idea: Our lives are being lived for someone's fame, just not our own." He elaborated on the importance of being constantly connected to God because even a minor separation leads to rapid decline. Most importantly, he pointed out how the "Vine" provides everything that is asked for. It knows everything that is needed by what is connected to it regardless of how far away it extends from the vine. (John 15:7) However, you must be consistently connected; even a simple tear can cause unfruitfulness. The life you live flows from Jesus, not for Jesus.
