George A. Kohl - Assoicate Pastor
Worship style - Contemporary
The second Sunday of our pilgrimage brought us to the church home of friends. As we were driving to the church, I remembered that one of their sons was getting married soon. None of us knew when, but we soon discovered that they were not there this Sunday as their son was getting married in Florida. So, we had the pleasure of hearing a sermon by the Associate Pastor, George Kohl, who gave an interesting and challenging talk on "Improving Your Batting Average" - Matthew 7:7-11. What can we do to increase our batting average when it comes to prayer? His answer based on the previously mentioned scripture: Ask, Keep on asking until God answers, and Learn to ask for things that are consistent with the will of God. Now, since baseball and softball have been a huge, did I say huge, part of our family, this sermon hit a home run with us. (There He is!!) Jesus was also present in the beautiful spirit-filled countenance of the Worship leader, in the moving and authentic testimony of the impact a small group had on a young couple and most surely in the delightful belly laugh of a visiting baby. We were honored to share in Holy Communion with this congregation, which was served in our seats and received once all in the congregation had been served. We were reminded to consider giving thanksgiving and praise for all Jesus had done for us. As we left, we were able to share with Pastor Kohl about our pilgrimage. He was most interested and a bit jealous of our adventure.
There were approximately 100-150 people in attendance.
