Paul Martin, Lead Pastor
Worship Style - Contemporary - Assembly of God
As we approached the church, the door was opened for us, and we were warmly greeted by various people as well as the lead pastor. Once seated, we were also greeted by another pastor who, upon hearing of our pilgrimage, rightly assumed that we are finding Jesus at all of the churches. This was our first Assembly of God church. Worship is lively and passionate - To God be the glory! Following some great praise music and announcements, we were invited to greet one another. As we turned around, we were greeted by a long time friend. What a pleasant surprise! Ultimately, he was joined by his wife and father-in-law, whom we learned had been on staff at this church.
Pastor Paul was doing a series entitled, "I AM _______." This Sunday, the focus was on Living Water. John 4:10, "Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'" Pastor Paul went on to explain that the Living Water is the Holy Spirit. John 7:37-39, "On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, 'Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.' By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." Pastor Paul pointed out that faith in Jesus is needed to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Our only source for being satisfied eternally is Jesus.
After the service, we were able to connect with our friends, who we had not seen it a long time, share stories of our families, and then meet three of their beautiful grandchildren. God is so awesome!
