Worship Style - Contemporary Baptist
We were warmly welcomed by many as we entered, given information and a chocolate chip cookie kit and even special parking privileges for visitors. This is a very large and well-equipped church. The first service was just getting out and seemed well attended, and the next service was beginning. There was a lot of energy. The service began with several testimonies and two baptisms. One of the young women being baptized gave a powerful, heartfelt testimony. Also, one of the worship team members spoke on the importance of keeping our hearts focused on God and not the melody, words etc. "It is all about worshiping HIM!" The sermon was Part 3 of the topic, "Our Story." We all have a "life narrative." We certainly think so! The emphasis was on broken people and creating relationships so that people get to know Jesus. We are all called to mend (equip) people so that they can pull in all God has for them. We all have gifts, are we using them? The church was asked to consider that they are not looking for good ideas, that they are not looking for great ideas, but that they need to focus on God's ideas for the church. There were approximately 250-300 people in attendance. Again, it feels that God is really asking us all to stretch and grow in our faith. Comfortable is not an option. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
