Rev. Wanda Santos-Perez
Worship Style - Traditional Methodist
It was a beautiful spring morning. So, we decided to take a drive to visit this church since we know the pastor here.
The service was opened with a beautiful video based on a praise song. Pastor Wanda's sermon was based on Luke 24:13-35, the story of the walk to Emmaus. It was entitled, "With Open Eyes." She discussed that many times we don't recognize the presence of Jesus. She pointed out the reference to the warmth the travelers felt in their hearts being in His presence. However, Jesus' style is to wait to be invited into our hearts. As Pastor Wanda said, "You are God's beloved, therefore do not let anything take away the joy of the Lord." She also prayed, "Help us live with open eyes." That is certainly what we are trying to do with our pilgrimage. Where do we feel the presence of Jesus?
Following a beautiful Offertory Anthem by the choir, it was our joy to then share in communion with the family of God at Oxford UMC. There were approximately 75-80 people in attendance. After the service, we were warmly greeted by Pastor Wanda and her children, as well as several members of her congregation. It was a joy worshiping Jesus at her church!
